An armed man shot a gas-station employee in the neck Thanksgiving afternoon in the Hamline-Midway neighborhood, police said.
The suspect arrived at a SuperAmerica at 717 Snelling Ave. N. near Minnehaha Avenue about 4:40 p.m. Thursday.
The assailant approached employee Jason Gatrell, who was working outside, ordered Gatrell into the store at gunpoint and told him to open the locked area behind the cash register, police said.
Another employee was in the store, and the two employees struggled with the suspect, according to police.
The assailant fired a shot, which struck Gatrell in the neck, and then fled, police said. Gatrell’s injury is said to be non-life-threatening.
Though the incident appeared to be an armed robbery, it was unclear whether the assailant took anything from the gas station.
No arrests have been made
